We stumbled onto one of the coolest live performance concepts we’ve seen in a long time; shove a musician into a cab, make them play one song all the way through, and video tape it from the front seat. There is just something charmingly intimate about these videos. The claustrophobic acoustics and stupid simplicity makes for an ultimately genuine musical experience.rnrnWhile Black Cab Sessions have been filming since May 2007, recently we’ve been spending some time going through the fantastic list of artists that have decided to take the challenge of “one song, one take, one cab.” Everyone from The Kooks, Ryan Adams, St. Vincent, Daniel Johnston, and Death Cab for Cutie have taken their turn in the traditional British black cab for a hand-held music video. The best part: they are all available to watch online for free.rnrn rnrn
rnrnWe recommend you check them all out. But our favorites are the amazing cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” by Amanda Palmer (of the Dresden Dolls),rnrnAnd another office favorite The National performing their song, “You’ve Done it Again Virginia”.Go Hail a Black Cab….
