UPDATE (10/22/09): 1.5.91 Release to Fix iTunes 9 Woes It’s official. The latest release of TuneUp solves all of the issues that some users let us know about with the latest iTunes 9. So be sure to update by right-clicking within TuneUp (on a Mac) or checking your systray (on a PC) and click “Check for Updates”. You can also see what version of TuneUp you are currently running by hovering over the top left corner (dark gray area). Again, if you ever run into problems please send a detailed description over to our support page, or check the forums to troubleshoot the issue yourself. Thanks for all your valuable input!
UPDATE (09/14/09): Due to recent changes in iTunes 9, TuneUp may run into issues with its updater, docking and cleaning in general. The core issue is that iTunes 9 now uses your music folder’s name as iTunes’ window title. To resolve these issues until we find a more permanent fix, please follow the instructions below:
- Quit out of both iTunes and TuneUp : Rename your music folder to “iTunes”
- For PC: Relaunch iTunes while holding the “Shift” key
- For Mac: Relaunch iTunes while holding the “Option” key
- iTunes should pop up an alert for you to choose a library : Click “Choose Library…”
- For PC: Browse to your newly named iTunes folder and the iTunes library file within that folder.
- For Mac: Browse to your newly named iTunes folder
Relaunch iTunes and you should be good to go! Hopefully this will help for that specific issue – let us know

I have a question about tuneup. It may pertain to this topic but im not quite sure. Whenever I try to open tuneup it says its going to update something then at the bottom right hand corner it says, “Rolling Back Changes” and it never opens up. I need some help please! Thank you!
Hi Patrick- This shouldn’t be happening. Please contact support so they can help troubleshoot and get this fixed for you. http://bit.ly/gtjtZq Thanks for your patience!
I have iTunes version 1.0.2 (I use a Gen 4 nano) and TuneUp Companion 2.3.3. Lately, I’ve been having a dickens of a time getting TuneUp Companion to completely open up. There’s no graphic, nothing. Just a white bar to the right of my iTunes screen. I have lots of tunes I need to get fixed and I depend on this program.
Any thoughts? I’ve done what you described above. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Shelley,
Please see this post from our Support Team: http://bit.ly/kk8oEb. Although this is not the same error screen you are seeing, the underlying issue is still the same. Please contact our Support Team if you need additional assistance: http://bit.ly/gtjtZq – they’re always happy to help!
Im confused what to do after I’ve hit “save all” in the clean tab, once the music has been cleaned. It runs through each album, but then do I hit ‘clear all”?
Also I’ve used the deduper and I still have 800 duplicate songs in iTunes. Whats the deal with that?
Another thing is I have Mac OS lion so I’m not sure if it supports TuneUp. Its sure has been a hassle to use…..
Hi there! When you click save all, a progress bar should appear over each album in the Cover Art list. When TuneUp has successfully saved a Cover Art selection to an album, the album will disappear from the Cover Art list.
Also, TuneUp is supported by Mac OS X Lion, so you shouldn’t be having that issue. We recommend letting our Support Team know what’s going on so they can troubleshoot with you to get this fixed: http://bit.ly/gtjtZq. Thank you for your patience!
