Here’s some awesome new tunes we’ve been blasting in the office and we recommend you check out:
- Julian Casablancas-
the Strokes frontman has a new record out called “Phrazes For the Young” which, he said he did to keep from getting bored. Well, for whatever reason, we like it. It’s got a hint of the Stroke-esque dirty rock, but with a mellow vibe that works to his favor. Mr. Casablancas moved to California, and you can tell. - The xx -
this London quartet is stark and hypnotic indie dance rock. The guy/girl vocals and soft/hard percussion make for some very cool and subdued tracks. It’s ike having a rave in an abandoned hospital (which, yes, sounds awesome to us). - The New Moon Soundtrack-
Look, don’t kill us… but yes, this is a pretty solid album. From the likes of Thom Yorke & Death Cab for Cutie to the pairing of St. Vincent and Bon Iver, there are some rad tracks in this tween cinematic fantasy. We know everyone is on Vampire over-kill, but check out this soundtrack, it might change your mind – but probably not. - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes-
their debut album “Up From Below” has been out awhile now (summer ’09) but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t recommend these tracks, because it makes you feel like it’s sunny again. This optimistic collective claps out some rad folk-rock that makes any bad day feel kinda like a blip in the scheme of life.
