While we are always touting our accuracy and have full faith in the competent audio fingerprinting technology we use, we know all too well, that TuneUp isn’t perfect. And sometimes, when cleaning up your music collection, you just click “Save” and put your trust in us to properly fix that bad tag.
And in the (rare) cases that TuneUp mislabels an entire album of Beastie Boys B-sides to Barry Manilow’s Greatest Hits – don’t fret! We developed a very easy way to “Undo” the incorrect cleans that we make.
Simply go to the Clean tab and click on the arching arrow. As you can see, the tab will become an “Undo” drop-box. Now, take any of the Tune’dUp tracks that you want to unclean and drop them in (very much like our Clean feature).
You will see the list of tracks, with their associated album and genre tag, come up. Simply click “Undo All” to revert all the tracks back to their original metadata in your library.
Note: Unfortunately, TuneUp cannot over-write the album art that was put into these albums, so if that too was incorrect, you may want to create a playlist before ‘Undo’ing just so you can go back to make any changes you’d like.
Whew. See! Wasn’t that easy?

This is fine if you *know* that your beastie boys album has been renamed to Barry Manilow.
What if I now can’t find the songs I’m looking for? Is there a log file I can scan for the original tags that undo uses when it’s dialling back?
My other option seems to be to listen to each of my 20,000 odd tracks individually to find what it is you’ve renamed my tunes to… these are tunes of my brother’s own compositions that I may no longer have hard copies of, now potentially renamed to the jiggerypokery band or some obscure jazz album…
Hi Goldie,
Thanks for your feedback. We suggest making sure that Playlist Creation is turned on (Preferences > Clean) so moving forward you’ll be able to easily find songs that TuneUp has cleaned. To find the songs you have already cleaned, please follow these instructions:
-In iTunes, select View > VIew Options
-Check the box next to “comments” and press “ok” to save your changes. You should now see a “comments” column within your iTunes music library.
-Click on the top of the “comments” column to sort your music library using this data.
-Any tracks with the comment “Cleaned by TuneUp” have been run through our software.
We hope this helps, but if you need additional assistance please let our Support Team know – they’re happy to help! http://bit.ly/gtjtZq
