One of our faves, Beach House, just released this music video for their single “Walk in the Park”. After watching it more times than necessary, here’s an existential breakdown of WTF is going on:
Our protagonist, an indie wolfboy, is just like us. See! He brushes teeth, stares distantly into mirror, smokes his Parliament, goes for a stroll (Spiderman Popsicle!), and longs for the attention of be-speckled, high-waisted, hair-bang mistress of cute.
Of course, with the inherent struggles of simply being ‘different’, Wolfie is mocked and teased by the Quartet of Normalcy. Specifically, an angry looking hominoid who slobbers on the aforementioned hottie (easily the most gruesome part of this video)… they laugh. They taunt. And then they proceed to beat the sh*t out of him.
But fear not, Hipster Lycanthropes! Our main man has got a Temple-Of-Doom-like power to dig into his chest and reveal… A SANDWICH! Yes, friends, that’s right. The most dangerous of the nutrient pyramid and completely irresistible to Dodge-driving bullies. Eat your heart out, literally.
Wham!Bam! In a series of munching, color vomit, and psychedelic activity, our Wolfhero successfully defeats his enemies through his flaming-blue-epicenter of goodness and outcasted dancing! Break it down Wolife, you’re the paramount of fuzzy angst and triumphant subculture…
The final question plaguing yours truly: what are they really trying to tell us about beards?
