TuneUp warns about a firewall and won't launch on PC
IMPORTANT: The TuneUpUpdater is being blocked when it does its network connection. There is a simple work around for this:
Option 1:
1. Download the following file:
http://tusupport.s3.amazonaws.com/settings.zip
2. Unzip the contents (settings.ini) to the following folder:
X86: C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia\updater
X64: C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia (X86)\updater
3. Click Yes when asked to overwrite the existing file
4. Launch TuneUp
Option 2:
1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
X86: C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia\updater
X64: C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia (X86)\updater
2. Open the file called "settings.ini" with Notepad or some other text editor
3. Remove the following line in the [CONNECTIONS] section
checkconnection=true
4. Save settings.ini
5. Launch TuneUp

Does moving or resizing the iTunes window reveal TuneUp docked to the right hand side of iTunes?
If you receive a message from TuneUp about not being able to launch due to a firewall:
Please completely disable any firewalls (including the Windows built-in firewall) temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. Same with any proxies you may be running - please try temporarily connecting directly to the internet.
We also recently changed the updater name from updater.exe to TuneUpDater.exe to make it clearer to users when we run the updater that it needs access through a firewall. Please be sure to add the appropriate allowances in your firewall if you've done so in the past with the updater.exe file.
Lastly, please navigate to:
C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia\updater
Open up settings.ini in Notepad and change the following line from:
[UPDATEINFO]
url=http://updater.mediatuneup.com/update.xml
to:
[UPDATEINFO]
url=http://dvk2ozaytrec6.cloudfront.net/update.xml
Save the file, then quit and relaunch both TuneUp and iTunes - TuneUp should now connect.
If you're still seeing the message, please attempt to run the updater manually:
C:\Program Files\TuneUpMedia\updater\TuneUpDater.exe
When you run it, does it say No updates or Can't connect immediately or after a period of time (~1 minute)?
Please forward this information to support if you're still experiencing conncetivity issues.
Thanks in advance!
If you're still experiencing the issue after allowing TuneUpDater.exe in your firewall's exceptions, please contact support and mention you've already completed this troubleshooting step.
