Thread: You need to get your great software on more media players!

Default You need to get your great software on more media players!

    Hello,

I have maybe 12 media players on my PC and the only one I use to handle my music is itunes. I hate itunes with a passion. It uses most of my computer resources, it's clunky, and it's exclusive to Mac mp3 players. After a horrible experience with AT&T's service, I am switching to Verizon and buying a motorola droid. I am, at the same time, switching from itunes to doubletwist music player to organize and synchronize my music. I am happy to say goodbye to AT&T and itunes but I will miss tuneup media. Have you guys ever thought of porting tuneup media to another media player, like for example doubletwist? Doubletwist works pretty much with every portable mp3 playing device in existence and it would greatly increase your consumer base. Well if you care to find out more, here's the website:

We are furiously at work at a version that supports Windows Media Player...and are always looking at the media player landscape to figure out which to support. Note that one of the requirements for TuneUp to be able to work is that the host media player have an Application Programming Interface (API) that supports modifying the track metadata.

To date, Doubletwist doesn't seem to have this as they are focused on supported devices more than plug-ins. Media Players with plug-in APIs that we've put on our (ever growing) development list are (in no apparent order): WinAmp, Songbird and MediaMonkey.

Question TuneUp on WMP 11 or Winamp

It's almost 2010 and still no TuneUp for media players other than ITunes. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel? Or, must I continue to use this bloated Apple software every time I want to repair some tags or embed album art?

The WMP version is almost there. It has been extremely difficult to get it to work. We ran into so many difficulties in the April/May timeframe that we pretty much gave up...Many extremely low-level technical issues and we've received no help at all from MS. We dusted it off the shelf in October and decided to give it one last push and it is not looking good (though not without it's issues).

We'll be starting a beta program in the next 20-30 days. Stay tuned as we post something here on how to get beta access.

Bring on the beta! I would be more than happy to give it a test drive.

Windows Media Center would be great too.

The product itself is ready. We just need to sort out some operations issues... First, we need to figure out how to deliver one version of our User Interface (Nude) to the beta users yet keep on delivering the existing User Interface (Magnum) to the masses. We also are setting up the password-protected web page to download, developing the forum with lists of known issues and so on...should be a few more weeks as the marketing team takes over...

It's February 12 already. Is it out yet? Or will there be a delay ?

I apologize...there will be a delay of sorts...we will release a modified version of 1.6.4 around the 22nd with just the bug fixes but no WMP support as we found a few issues with the WMP implementation (mostly around cover art).

    I'll update the release section...
