Within iTunes you should still be able to manually override the selection.
Right click the files you want to modify, then "Get Info" You can then delete the artwork manually. |

Is there a way to do this en masse? I previously used a competing product, now i have 10,000 tracks with the wrong covers added to them and their support department shrugged and said "Yeah, it does that sometimes".
Thankfully, TuneUp is great at what it does! |

Yes, you can do it in one fell swoop...highlight all the songs for which you want to delete cover art in iTunes, click Ctrl-I and then click the Album Art checkbox and click OK...will take a while if you do it for 10,000 tracks though!

TuneUp tells me that cover art for songs have to be deleted before TuneUp can add a new cover art to those songs. How do I make TuneUp just delete those cover arts itself and replace them with whatever it finds in its database?

There is no way to do that. It is a limitation of the iTunes programming interface (or API)...the API has no "delete" function for cover art...so we can't delete it...not sure why Apple implemented this way but there it is...You have to manually delete the incorrect ones in iTunes.
